This is definitely one for the books...

So this past week I have developed this terrible cough that will not go away. On top of that Monday morning I wake up to this breakout of hives all over the right side of my body. I took Benadryl and put some Cortizone cream on one spot just to see if it would help and it didn't. In fact, the next morning I wake up to these hives ALL over my body! From literally my shoulders down to my feet!
My hubby (who I would never say this too, but is smarter than I give him credit for sometimes=-)) Said I needed to be seen and find out what kind of reaction it was. Well, Monday night I went in, got a shot of Benadryl in my tush and sent home. The next day was when I broke out all over..so I went in AGAIN, and this time they said it was a "fungal infection" and prescribed me anti-fungal creme. I came home and David was shocked claiming that it was "no way a fungal infection because fungus does not spread that quickly!" So we decided to test it out. I put it on half of my arm, and half of my waist. Are you ready for what happened next?? I kid you not ~in about 30 minutes my hands were bright red, and where I put the ointment on my body, it was on fire, it burned that badly.
So, I called the ACC (acute care clinic) here on post and told them that I was there this morning already and this supposed doctor prescribed fungal creme and yadda, yadda, yadda. Well he just happened to be the triage guy that originally saw me (confused yet??) and said "Ma'am I have been doing this a long time, and that was no fungal infection." Hats off to my hubby for that one=-)
Long story short (yes, it is even longer) I had to go back in (third times a charm) and they gave me a shot of Predizone in my other tush, and I had to do a breathing treatment of Albuterol due to the cough...
What makes this story sooooo ironic is for the longest time I have had an irritation/itchiness from eating walnuts/almonds. So, I just avoid them because let's face it, it does get annoying to constantly be scratching your neck for an hour.
Well, on Saturday night my wonderful neighbor baked these scrumptious cookies with peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, and walnuts in them. I devoured two before I was informed they had walnuts in them. When I didn't break out into that annoying itch on my neck I totally forgot about it. I was so focused on anything new I had eaten or tried (laundry detergent, tampons, soap, etc.) That only when my brilliant 9 year old mentioned to me those delicious cookies we ate had I remembered what had occurred.
Needless to say, my daughter saved the days/weeks I'm sure it would of taken me to decipher what had happened/taken place.
So, now I guess I can officially say "anything complicated that happens to me is because my name is Brandi, and oh by the way, I am allergic to nuts" =-)
